Report: Pistons Restructure Coaching Staff

The Detroit Pistons announced today that they have restructured their coaching staff.

Pat Garrity has been promoted to assistant general manager, Andrew Loomis to chief of staff and Bob Beyer to associate head coach.

Grand Rapids Drive Head Coach Otis Smith has been promoted to an assistant coach on the Detroit Pistons bench. This means that Detroit will need to find a new Drive coach.

Malone recently completed his second year of his second stint as an assistant coach with the Pistons. Malone will transition from an assistant coach to a “special assignment” scout. The Pistons say he will reside in New York.

Quentin Richardson is leaving the Pistons for “personal reasons.” Richardson became the director of player development in 2014. He spent 13 seasons in the NBA as a player.
