Game Preview: Pistons Hit the Road for Meeting With Nets
The Pistons are rolling. Detroit (3-1) comes into on a three-game win streak as they play the Brooklyn Nets (1-3) in the back-end of Detroit’s first back to back of the season.
The Brooklyn Nets lost their last game to the Chicago Bulls, 118-88. Bojan Bogdanovic had 15 points for Brooklyn, while Brook Lopez had 13 points and two rebounds. The Nets shot 5/31 from the three-point line, 16.1%. They are among league leaders in three-pointers attempted this season. The Bulls outrebounded the Nets 58-45. Brooklyn committed 15 turnovers in the loss.
Brooklyn is a new look team, but the pieces are talented enough for this team to find much success. Brooklyn went into rebuilding mode this offseason when they traded Thaddeus Young to Indiana for their first round pick in the draft. The Nets used that pick to select Michigan star Caris Levert. Levert will not play against the Pistons, as he is still recovering from a leg injury that continuously bothered him at Michigan. They also signed younger players such as Joe Harris and Trevor Booker. Joe Harris is playing well for Brooklyn off the bench, averaging nine points and 2.8 rebounds in 21 minutes per game. While not elite talent by any means they have been given the opportunity to grow on a team that will likely not be competing for a playoff spot this year.
The Pistons continue to play well. They beat the Knicks 102-89 yesterday. Tobias Harris finished with a double-double, his first of the season, with 25 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Marcus Morris had 22 points and four rebounds. Ish Smith finished with 10 points and eight assists. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 19 points for the second straight game. He hit four threes in the game.
Marcus Morris had the challenge of guarding Melo in the game, who scored 24 points, and Morris won.
