Game Recap: 76ers Blowout Pistons 97-79
Tonight the Detroit Pistons were embarrassed on their home flooring, losing to the Philadelphia 76ers 79-97. The Pistons did not look engaged at any point during this game and the 76ers took advantage. Philly outshot (55.9% vs 39.0%), outrebounded (42 vs 34), and passed better (24ast vs 15ast) than the Pistons.
During the second quarter, Coach Stan Van Gundy was overheard yelling at the bench.
Although the Pistons had a late surge in the fourth quarter, this game was pretty much over by halftime. During his postgame interview Reggie Jackson stated the following:
Marcus Morris was the only Pistons to show up Sunday scoring 28 points. Reggie Jackson’s shooting struggles continued as he shot 5-17 from the field. Andre Drummond posted another double-double, with 14 points and 14 rebounds. However, on the defensive side of the floor, Drummond was demolished.
Coming off a three-game absence, Jahlil Okafor dominated Drummond. Okafor was 4-4 from the field against Dre, finishing with 14 points. T.J. McConnell, filling in for the late-scratch Sergio Rodriguez, nearly had a triple-double posting 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. Former-Piston Ersan Ilyasova poured in 15 points while Robert Covington chipped in 16 points.
Overall, Stan Van Gundy’s Pistons did not come to play tonight. Detroit will look to bounce back against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night.
