Game Recap: Marc Gasol ties career-high with 38 points as Grizzlies outclass Pistons 96-86

Tonight, the Memphis Grizzlies (19-12) defeated the spiraling Pistons (14-17), 96-86. The Pistons have now lost four in a row.

Marc Gasol dominated Andre Drummond, tying his career-high with 38 points on 14-17 shooting. Gasol added 5 rebounds and 4 assists. No other Grizzly scored more than 9 points.

The Grizzlies also showed why they are the best defensive team in the league. Memphis limited the Pistons to 36% shooting from the field and 26% from behind the arc while forcing 17 Piston turnovers.

After 17 games on the injury report, Chandler Parsons returned to action. In 15 minutes, Parsons shot 1-5 posting 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Not all was bad for the Pistons as Reggie Jackson had his best game since his return. Jackson scored 18 points (6-12) with 7 assists. Jon Leuer showed no signs of injury after his car accident.

Leuer poured in 18 points with 6 rebounds in 29 minutes, which begs the question, will Leuer start next game? Marcus Morris may have made SVG’s decision easier, as he shot 1-11 from the field, and 0-7 from the three-point line.

SVG’s Pistons played a pretty good game against a defensive juggernaut. Overall, the Grizzlies are just a better team on both sides of the ball. In order for the Pistons to contend against the elite teams of the west, they must play at their best.

Pistons face the Golden State Warriors on Friday night at 7:30 eastern.
