Report: ESPN Sources say Minnesota and Detroit have discussed a PG swap of Ricky Rubio and Reggie Jackson

According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the Detroit Pistons and the Minnesota Timberwolves have discussed a Point Guard swap between Reggie Jackson and Ricky Rubio.

From Stein:

“Story going online now with @ChrisBHaynes: ESPN sources say Minnesota and Detroit have discussed a PG swap of Ricky Rubio and Reggie Jackson”

The Pistons have not played as well as many expected them to be playing this season.  Through 44 games, the team has posted a (20-24) record.  Reggie Jackson who missed the first month of the season due to knee tendinitis has also been quite a disappointment thus far.  This season Jackson averages 16.7 ppg, 5.3 apg, 2.3 rpg and is shooting 43.6% from the field.  These numbers are a sign of regression compared to last season’s.

The Timberwolves have (15-28) record through 43 games and have said publicly they are interested in dealing away their players.  Ricky Rubio averages 7.7ppg, 7.9 apg, 3.9 rpg and is shooting 37.1% from the field this season.

Reggie Jackson is in his second year of an $80 million contract while Rubio has two season left on a contract and would cost roughly $29.9 million.

There is no report saying any official deal has made, but the fact that there are league wide talks regarding the Pistons potentially dealing one of their “franchise” players is pretty astounding.
