Game Recap: On Zeke night, Pistons demolish rival Lakers 121-102

Tonight, the Detroit Pistons (25-28) demolished the Los Angeles Lakers (18-36) 121-102.

Andre Drummond destroyed the Lakers’ frontcourt, posting a near “20-20” game. Dre finished with a game-high 24 points and 17 rebounds.

Jon Leuer poured in 20 points and off the bench, Tobias Harris, had 19 points with 5 rebounds. Ish Smith had another solid game as well, scoring 10 points with 7 dimes in just 20 minutes of play. However, Ish was a little sloppy with the ball, he had 5 turnovers.

As a team, the Pistons shot 52.6% from the field, mostly dominating the paint. Detroit struggled mightily from downtown (4-16) but that did not hinder their offense. SVG’s crew hustled on both sides of the ball and they played unselfishly (32 team assists). Detroit also outrebounded LA 52-41, while forcing 21 turnovers.

At this point, the Lakers rank 29th in defense and it showed tonight. LA did not close out shots, box out, or do any of the little things it takes to win a basketball game. Simply put, they did not look engaged to play this evening. Julius Randle led the team in scoring with 17 points while rookie, Brandon Ingram had 15.

The Detroit Pistons will look to further their win streak Friday when they take on the San Antonio Spurs (40-12) at the Palace of Auburn Hills at 7:30pm EST.
