Game Preview: The King Makes One Last Trip to the Palace
Tonight the Pistons (30-32) host to the Cavilers (42-20). The game is a 7:30 EST tip off.
Cleveland: Irving, Shumpert, Jefferson, James, Thompson
Detroit: Jackson, Caldwell-Pope, Morris, Leuer, Drummond
This game could be a potential first round match up for the Pistons. It was also their first round match up last year as the Cavs swept the Pistons on their way to a championship. So to say that this game has playoff implications for Detroit would be an understatement.
For Cleveland it all starts with their two super stars of LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. Both have proven to be elite players over their career and often carried the Cavs to the NBA title. James is averaging 26.0 points per game and Irving is averaging 25.1 points per game. Limiting these two will be key for the Pistons tonight. Luckily for Detroit, a lot of Cleveland’s supporting cast is banged up right now. Most notably Kevin Love will be one of the several Cavs players to miss tonight’s game.
Detroit comes into this game after a crushing loss to Indiana last night. This will be the second game of a back to back and Detroit has been getting off to terrible starts as of late, so not getting off to a slow start will be critical to this game. Hopeful point guard Reggie Jackson will be able to push the pace tonight and get the offense going early. He has played better as of late, but has still not found the formula to spark things early in games.
Cleveland will be without Kyle Korver, JR Smith, Kevin Love and Andrew Bogut for this game.
Detroit will be without Aron Baynes tonight.
