The Detroit Pistons have defeated the Orlando Magic 114-110 in a game that wasn’t as close as the final score indicates. The Magic went on a 19-0 run after being down 24 to pull the game within 5, but could never take the lead from the Pistons, who now have won three in a row after a disastrous 7-game skid.
It was the Reggie Bullock show for Detroit, as he led the team in scoring and set a new career high with 20 points on a torrid 8-of-10 shooting. His teammates didn’t just sit back and watch, however, as Bullock’s out-of-nowhere stat line was supported with plenty of help. Reggie Jackson, Tobias Harris, and Anthony Tolliver each finished with 17 points, along with plenty of triples as the Pistons tied their franchise record of 17 three-pointers. Andre Drummond also finished with 12 points and 6 rebounds.
For Orlando, it was a career night for fourth-year guard Mario Hezonja, as the Croatian eclipsed his previous career-high of 21 points by seven, ending his night with a game-high 28. Jonathan Simmons and Nikola Vucevic also had fantastic nights for Orlando, finishing with 23 points, six rebounds and seven assists and 24 points, 14 rebounds, and seven assists, respectively.
The Pistons are now 17-13 and tied for fourth in the Eastern Conference while Orlando continues to show their early surge was a fluke, falling to 11-20. Detroit takes on the lowly Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, while the Magic play the surging Chicago Bulls next.
