Tonight, the Detroit Pistons (21-17) held on to a victory after a late surge by the Houston Rockets (27-11) 108-101. Both teams were without their star players as Pistons Andre Drummond and Rockets James Harden both did not play. Detroit shot 50% (12-25) from behind the arc and they went to the charity stripe 16 more times (27 vs 11) than Houston.
Tobias Harris had a game-high 27 points while collecting 8 rebounds and Ish Smith poured in 17 points with 4 assists.
Reggie Bullock continued his solid play, hitting 3 of 4 shots from downtown on his way to 14 points. Avery Bradley is clearly showing some rust as he shot 5 of 15 from the field but he is starting to play solid defense again. Bradley for the first time this season was “+” on the floor, finishing with a +/- of +5. Off the bench, Dwight Buycks continued to impress, scoring 16 points in 22 minutes. Boban Marjanovic look offensively unstoppable in limited action tonight, as he had 10 points and 5 rebounds.
As for the Rockets, Chris Paul added another double-double (16pts, 13ast) to his hall-of-fame career while Eric Gordon and Trevor Ariza both had 15 points. The Rockets’ young center Clint Capela also had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Off the bench, Gerald Green had another solid game with 15 points.
The Pistons will look to build off this win as they face the New Orleans Pelicans at 8pm EST / PST Monday night.
