The Pistons were led by Avery Bradley and Andre Drummond tonight. Bradley had 26 points in 38 minutes. Drummond had 21 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 blocks. The Pistons were able to take this game down to the wire despite a bad game from Tobias Harris. Harris was 3-14 from the field, and 0-6 from downtown for only 7 points.  The Pistons got a steal with 5 seconds left, but Reggie Bullock missed a contested fast break layup as the time expired.

The Bulls had Zach Lavine play 19 minutes in his season debut tonight.  Lavine finished with 14 points on 5-9 shooting and 3-4 from distance. Lauri Markkanen led the Bulls in scoring with 19 points.  Kris Dunn also played a good game, finishing with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals, and 3 blocks. Nikola Mirotic and Bobby Portis brought a spark off the bench, with Mirotic scoring 16 points and Portis scoring 15 points.

The Pistons had multiple opportunities to tie or win the game at the end of the fourth. Drummond missed a bunny after beating Robin Lopez to the basket, Bradley took an unnecessary runner with a defender all over him with under a minute left, and Bullock missed a contested fast break layup with under 5 seconds to go when he had a pass to Harris for a dunk. With Reggie Jackson, Jon Leuer, and Stanley Johnson out, the Pistons can’t afford to lose games like this.

The Pistons will play the Charlotte Hornets on Monday at 12:30. The Bulls will play the Miami Heat on Monday at 3:30.
