Tonight at 7:00pm EST the Pistons will be hosting the Jazz at the LCA in Detroit. The Pistons come in at 22-23, while the Jazz are at 19-28. The Pistons are on two days of rest following a heartbreaking loss to the Nets on Sunday night while the Jazz are on one day of rest after losing to the Atlanta Hawks on Monday.
The Jazz are anchored defensively by Rudy Gobert who remains one of the most impactful defensive players in the NBA, while rookie sensation Donovan Mitchell has surpassed any and all expectations that could’ve been put on him in what is a truly historic rookie season by scoring nearly 20 points per game on excellent efficiency.
The Jazz are a defense first team that really struggles to consistently put points up on the board, but they are well coached and play hard more often that not. Combine good effort with at least some talent and they are not an easy team when they have most of their guys.
The Pistons are coming off a terrible loss to the Nets which put them below .500 for the first time all season which makes this a very important game for the Pistons to win so that they stop this skid.
The biggest intrigue of this game is going to be Luke Kennard and Donovan Mitchell. Mitchell is still probably salty about the Pistons not drafting him, meanwhile, Kennard has to hear all of the noise of regret from so many. Both guys are very likely to bring some extra sauce to the game tonight, and if SVG continues to be committed to making Kennard a primary option with bench crews.
The Pistons will still be without Jackson and Leuer tonight, while the Jazz are going to be without swing man Thabo Sefolosha and point guard Dante Exum who are both out for the year. Sweet shooting guard Rodney Hood missed the last two games and is likely to be a game timeĀ decision.
