Tonight, the Detroit Pistons (25-26) won their third game in a row, defeating the Miami Heat (29-24) 111-107.
Ish Smith’s shot was on tonight has he finished with 25 points, 7 assists and 4 rebounds. Andre Drummond put on an “All-Star” performance, posting a monster double with 23 points and 20 rebounds. The Pistons’ new superstar, Blake Griffin, had 16 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Most importantly, Griffin closed the game with a late three-pointer and a brilliant assist to Ish Smith’s “dagger” three-pointer.
Stanley Johnson continued to show improved confidence as he had 13 points and 7 rebounds. Off the bench, both Anthony Tolliver and Reggie Bullock had 13 points. The Pistons had a short bench as they were without Luke Kennard and Dwight Buycks.
For the Miami Heat, Goran Dragic left no doubt in the building that he deserved his All-Star game nod. Dragic torched the Pistons with 33 points and 6 assists. Both Kelly Olynyk and Josh Richardson had 13 points and off the bench, James Johnson had 18 points.
The Pistons look like a new team with Blake Griffin on the squad. Detroit hit 14/17 (82.4%) of their free throws and they outrebounded Miami 49-33. The Pistons will look to continue their win streak as they take on the Portland Trail Blazers at home on Monday at 7pm ET/ 4 PT.
