Report: Pistons Want to “Further Conversations” with Dwane Casey and John Beilein

The Detroit Pistons have been very busy over the last few weeks interviewing numerous head coaching canddiates in what appears to be a very thorough search. Adrian Wojnarowkski of ESPN updates the current search with details on candidates Detroit is interested in moving forward with:

The Pistons have already met with both Casey and Beilein, two highly regarded coaching candidates. There have also been reports of Detroit speaking with or scheduling interviews with names such as Kenny Smith, Nick Nurse, and Juwan Howard.

Casey last served as the head coach of the Toronto Raptors, but was dismissed after being swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the opening round of this year’s playoffs. Beilein fresh of a national championship appearance with Michigan, would be taking a leap from the NCAA to the NBA, a jump many coaches never make.

As a Pistons fan, I feel like it’s hard to go wrong with either coach. Much thanks to the Raptors front office for firing a Coach of the Year candidate. Looking forward to the GM search as well.
