Report: Pistons Not Renewing Scouting Department’s Contracts for Next Season

According to Jake Fischer of Sports Illustrated, the Detroit Pistons will not be renewing the contracts of their scouting department on June 30th.

This news comes the day after the NBA Draft, in which Detroit traded two future second-round picks for the 38th pick in the draft and used their own 42nd pick. Early returns have called Detroit’s draft night a success, as the team added Khyri Thomas and Bruce Brown, two tough-nosed guards.

Ed Stefanski has been the head man of Detroit’s front office since it was announced he was brought in as a senior advisor to Tom Gores. Stefanski is practically the General Manager, without it being formally announced. At the introduction press conference for Dwane Casey on Wednesday, Gores said Stefanksi can play numerous roles with Detroit, including General Manager.
