Report: Head Trainer Jon Ishop No Longer with Team

The Detroit Pistons will be on the market for a new athletic trainer and director of sports medicine, as Vincent Ellis of the Detroit Free Press reports that Jon Ishop will no longer be with the Pistons.

Ishop was hired by the former president of basketball operations and head coach, Stan Van Gundy back in 2014. He spent time with the New Orleans Pelicans and Houston Texans prior to his tenure in Detroit.

Ishop had received heavy criticism from the Pistons’ fan base after multiple seasons filled with injuries to key players such as Reggie Jackson, Avery Bradley, and Stanley Johnson.

Ellis notes that he believes Detroit is close to filling the open positions.
