Report: Pistons have had Conversations with Mavericks about Dennis Smith Jr.

The Detroit Pistons are reportedly interested and have talked to the Dallas Mavericks about point guard Dennis Smith Jr. according to Mitch Lawrence of Sporting News.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported earlier tonight that the Mavericks have ramped up trade talks on the second year point guard.

Smith has missed Dallas’ last three games with a back injury.

This season, Smith has averaged 12.6 points and 3.9 assists per game. He has shot 37.5 percent from the 3-point line. Smith’s role has taken a backseat rookie sensation Luka Doncic, and head coach Rick Carlisle is reportedly upset with Smith and his decision making.

The Orlando Magic and Phoenix Suns are other teams who have been reported to be interested in Smith.
