Report: Pistons Sign Michael Beasley to Contract

The Detroit Pistons have signed free agent forward Michael Beasley to a one-year deal according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Beasley was recently suspended by the NBA for five games following a violation of the league’s anti-drug policy. That will take effect at the beginning of the 2019-2020 season.

He spent last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, appearing in just 26 games. He averaged seven points and 2.3 rebounds in 10.7 minutes per game. He shot 49% from the field and 17.9% from the 3-point line.

The Pistons have over 15 players under contract, so it is likely that Beasley will have to fight to earn one of the final roster spots on Detroit’s roster.

He is 30 years old and has spent 11 seasons in the league.
