Today, Detroit Pistons Forward Markieff Morris was hit with a fine by the NBA for $35,000 for apparently using some harsh and vulgar language towards a referee during Saturday’s 117-110 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Morris played pretty well in that game—as he accumulated 17 points and six rebounds, in 23 minutes of game time.
The NBA released the following statement earlier today:
“Detroit Pistons forward Markieff Morris has been fined $35,000 for directing inappropriate and offensive language toward a game official, it was announced today by Kiki VanDeWeghe, Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations.
The incident occurred during the Pistons’ 117-111 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday, October 2.”
What Morris specifically said to the referee has not been released to the public from the NBA.
Morris and the rest of the Pistons organization will have to put this issue to the side for the time being, as the Pistons are slated for action tonight. They will take on the Indiana Pacers—a team that they beat to open the regular reason last Tuesday, 119-110.
