According to NBA insider Mark Stein, a confirmed source is confident that center Andre Drummond will be moved before the February 6 trade deadline.

In what is now another log in the fire, it appears Andre Drummond’s days in Detroit are numbered. Multiple teams including the Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers and more have expressed interest in acquiring the two-time All-Star. Drummond, who started the season at almost nuclear levels of production has cooled slightly as the season has progressed. The former UConn big is still averaging a career-high 17.4 points per game and is also grabbing 15.9 rebounds a contest.

With Drummond set for unrestricted free agency this upcoming summer, it may be in Detroit’s best interest to move the eight-year veteran if they want to avoid a pricy extension. As he only has six months remaining on his deal, potential return for Drummond may not be what many had hoped. However, acquiring something in return for Drummond’s services would definitely be better than letting him walk in free agency for nothing.
