According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Detroit Pistons have been granted a $9.2 million disabled player exception in correspondence with a projected season-ending injury to star forward Blake Griffin.
The Pistons applied for the exception back on January 10th. They can use the exception to add another player to the roster. It is unlikely they use the exception currently, as they are just thousands of dollars away from the luxury tax.
Griffin underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in the first week on January. The team has not set a timetable for his return, and it is anticipated that Griffin will miss the rest of the season.
