In the wake of NBA legend Kobe Bryant’s passing, some NBA players have announced a number change to honor one of the game’s greatest icons. That includes the Pistons’ own Markieff Morris – a Philadelphia native, just like Bryant. Morris explained the reasoning for his decision to switch from jersey number 8 – the Mamba’s first of two numbers in his career – to 88.
Morris has become just one of the players throughout the league changing their number in honor of Bryant, with the Nets’ Spencer Dinwiddie, Magic’s Terrence Ross, and Lakers’ Quinn Cook making the switch as well.
