When it was revealed Detroit Pistons’ scout, Maury Hanks, had not only tested positive for COVID-19, but had reportedly been fighting for his life, widespread support was quick to surface. Hanks is a beloved scout across the NBA and is widely known as the, “ultimate survivor.”

In a world currently filled with, what seems like, a universal feeling of hopelessness, Maury Hanks has hope. Hanks has passed his first breathing trial, and was taken off a ventilator. Though, there is a chance Hanks regresses, for now, this is hope.

The fight will continue for Maury, and our thoughts are with him and his family, as his race to recovery goes on.
