REPORT: PIstons Acquire 16th Pick in 2020 NBA Draft and Trevor Ariza from Houston Rockets

The Detroit Pistons have acquired the 16th pick in tonight’s NBA Draft and forward Trevor Ariza, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. The Pistons will send Houston a future first-round pick.

The Rockets will acquire a 2021 second-round pick as well from Detroit.

The Pistons now own the 7th and 16th pick in tonight’s draft.

Ariza, 34, averaged eight points per game this season in 34 appearances with the Sacramento Kings and Portland Trail Blazers.

The first-round pick Detroit is sending Houston is heavily protected according to James Edwards III of The Athletic.

The pick is top-16 protected for the next four seasons and is then top-10 protected for the following two years. After that, it is top-9 protected for a year. If it has not conveyed by then, the pick flips into two second-round picks.
