The Detroit Pistons have decided against extending a qualifying offer to Thon Maker, allowing Maker to enter the upcoming free agency period.

A center, Maker averaged 4.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.6 assist on 48.2% free throw shooting in 12.9 minutes of action per night. Maker was acquired in a three-team trade in 2019.

This is another move in what has been a busy first offseason for Pistons’ GM Troy Weaver. Weaver has made it clear that he will be “aggressive” in rebuilding the Pistons into a winning team. So far, the rapid amount of moves he’s made indicates that he intends on clearing house.
