After a whirlwhind evening of wheeling and dealing (and picking), the Pistons remain in retooling mode. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Detroit is reportedly acquiring center Dewayne Dedmon from the Atlanta Hawks.

The Pistons have been moving pieces around and getting rid of draft selections from the previous regime like Luke Kennard and Bruce Brown. Now, we can add Khyri Thomas to that list. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports Detroit will send Tony Snell and Thomas to Atlanta for the veteran big Dedmon.

With the acquisition of Dedmon, coupled with the trade for Tony Bradley and the drafting of Isiah Stewart, the Pistons are rounding out the front court with youth and depth. It remains to be seen what will come of free agent Christian Wood, who played very well last season after Andre Drummond was sent to Cleveland. Given the players the Pistons are adding to the roster, it appears Detroit is operating under the assumption that Wood will not be re-upping with the organization.

Still, Troy Weaver clearly has a plan in place – and that plan is fueled by the mantra of “out with the old, in with the new”.
