The Detroit Pistons have waived recently-acquired center Dewayne Dedmon, per James Edwards III.
Dedmon was acquired in a trade with the Atlanta Hawks that sent away Tony Snell and Khyri Thomas. Dedmon, who’s guaranteed salary was $13.3MM, wasn’t expected to be on the Pistons’ roster for long.
It’s widely assumed that Detroit will use the stretch provision on Dedmon’s contract to clear up more cap space for their recent signings. This means that Detroit would only take a $2.9MM cap hit each year for Dedmon’s contract.
