According to Shams Charania, rookie guard Killian Hayes suffered a labral tear in his hip on the Jan. 4 game vs. Milwaukee.
There’s no timetable yet on when Hayes is expected to return, but it is likely Hayes rookie campaign is already over. Typical recovery time for a labral tear in the hip is between four and six months, but could even be longer. This Reddit thread explains some of the previous notable hip labral tears, including Gerald Henderson, Wilson Chandler and LaMarcus Aldridge.
Hayes started all 7 games for the Pistons this season, posting averages of 4.6 points, 3.6 assists, and 27.7% field goal percentage in just over 21 minutes per contest.
