According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Blake Griffin will not be in the Pistons lineup until they can figure out a potential trade or buy out situation.
The deal looks to be mutual, similar to the Stafford-Lions situation.
“After extensive conversation with Blake’s representatives, it has been determined that we will begin working to facilitate a resolution regarding his future with the team that maximizes the interests of both parties,” Weaver told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
It is unclear of any team’s interest in trading for the aging Griffin, who has not looked like the same player as he arrived in Detroit back in January of 2018. With a $36.6 million price tag on Griffin’s services this year and a $39 million option for next season looming, a buy-out seems like the most likely option.
