According to Jonathan Givony of ESPN, the Detroit Pistons front office is beginning to align on who they plan to take with the first pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Givony reports that Troy Weaver and the rest of the Detroit Pistons’ front office settling in on Cade Cunningham with their No.1 selection in the draft “could be imminent.”
Givony wrote, “Cunningham’s standing in Detroit has strengthened throughout the pre-draft process to the point that it would be extremely surprising if the Pistons did anything but pick him No.1”.
The Pistons have been heavily linked to Jalen Green alongside Cunningham, with reports swirling throughout the pre-draft process that Detroit was intrigued by Green and seriously considering drafting the 6’5” guard out of the G League. Detroit also brought in Evan Mobley from USC and Jalen Suggs from Gonzaga for workouts over the past two weeks.
The Pistons also currently own three picks in the second round of the draft, which begins on Thursday, July 29th at 8:30 P.M.
