The debut of the 1st pick in the 2021 NBA Draft will be suspended even further, head coach Dwane Casey announced on Friday afternoon. Casey told reporters that Cunningham will not travel with the Detroit Pistons on the team’s three-game road trip the starts on Saturday in Chicago against the Bulls. The Pistons then will face the Atlanta Hawks and Philadelphia 76ers.
Cunningham has been dealing with what was once dubbed a “very minor” ankle injury since the beginning of training camp.
The Pistons will return home on October 30th to face the Orlando Magic. Troy Weaver recently said on 97.1 The Ticket that the game against the Magic could be the target debut date for Cunningham. He is expected to start for Detroit upon joining the team.
